Letter to Birth Parents
Hello,
We are Robert and Angela, and thank you for looking at our profile and considering us as adoptive parents. More importantly, thank you for looking into adoption as we know you are making this selfless decision in an effort to provide the best life possible for your child. Know that we are praying for you whether you choose us or not, and we have prayed for many years to expand our family and welcome a child into our home. We hope that as you read our profile, you will feel comfortable with us and see us as a couple that will welcome your child into our family with loving arms.
Angela and I first met back in 2006 at a church activity when she was 17 and I was 21, but at the time Angela didn’t even see me - to be fair she was at the activity with her boyfriend so I can’t be too mad. We reintroduced ourselves almost a year later and Angela knew then she wanted to marry me - you see we were at a friend’s house admiring her parent’s kitchen and I said that my future home would have 2 ovens and she was hooked, but I wasn’t as certain. After a couple of weekends together we went our separate ways but remained friends. Three years and a lot of life experiences for both of us later, the third time was the charm. The spark was still there, and it was finally the right place, right time.
At this point I was already finished with my first year of dental school. We dated for the next 7 months, and I had this great proposal planned over New Years in Orlando at Disney (Angela’s favorite place in the world), but the ring wasn’t ready. My next plan to propose was during another school holiday and we were in Atlanta, with the plan being to do a little “walk down memory lane” of our first few dates from that previous summer - but my phone from an obscure cell company died and I had to drive all over Atlanta trying to fix it. Later that day at the perfect moment, Angela was consumed by her love for her favorite slice of cake and the chance was lost. Eventually I proposed kneeling next to a bed that night at a hotel while she was distracted by her phone, so romantic. As you can tell by our story so far, we’re really persistent and patient with each other, and 10 years of marriage have only strengthened our love and devotion to each other!

Angela is magical, or at least loves all things magical - Harry Potter, Disney, Lord of the Rings, fantasy books, sci-fi, anything and everything that requires the imagination. She loves dressing up (we call it cosplaying), is a true entertainer, and enjoys traveling, music, and has the unique ability to make friends faster than anyone. Angela came from a BIG family with lots of branches. She has 1 full-blooded sister, 4 half-sisters, 4 half-brothers, and 9 step-siblings, and with that comes more cousins, nieces, and nephews than she can count! As they’ve grown older, they’ve grown closer despite living states apart. When they get together it gets loud real fast and their love for each other is obvious for everyone to see. Angela was born in Arizona, moved to Utah for her childhood, and has since lived in California, Germany, and Georgia - she’s comfortable anywhere there’s family.

As for me, I’m quieter, love sports and music, am fascinated by learning, technology and games, and an absolute travel enthusiast, and master plan-maker. I like to build my own costumes for cosplaying because it's way more satisfying than buying someone else's work. By the time I was in middle school I had my life planned out - graduate college and get into dental school, get married, become a dentist, have a family, see the world. I love being a dentist - it’s the perfect combination of health, science and technology, art, and caring for others. My parents are both retired teachers - that’s probably where my love of learning came from. My love of music came from my dad being a band director and I’ve played piano almost all my life, went to college on a music scholarship for the French Horn, and occasionally sing. I was born and raised in a small town in South Georgia, and have lived most of my life in Georgia except for two of my college years in Thailand. All my immediate and extended family still lives in my hometown two and half hours away from me, so it’s really easy to drive and see them any weekend I want.

We live to have fun together. While Angela is the ultimate entertainer, I'm her perfect supporting cast. She can plan a party better than anyone and I keep things running smoothly. Angela dreams it up, I help make it happen. We absolutely love going to plays, musicals, and concerts and are founding supporting members of Atlanta United, the soccer team in Atlanta. We love traveling together and seeing new places and trying all the food! We spend hours together at the gym so we can enjoy all the food and do all kinds of physical challenges while we travel like scuba diving, climbing hundreds of stairs to the top of a Buddhist temple, walking all over Manhattan, and of course marathon days at Disney World. Sunday mornings are for church and Sunday nights are game nights with friends. Weekdays are for work, and weekends are the real fun.

From the start of our relationship, we established early on we wanted children of our own and felt it was God’s plan for us to have a bigger family than two people. Before our first anniversary we decided to start trying to have biological children and build our dream. After 4 years without a hint of pregnancy we saw a specialist and after several tests we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility - neither of us had found problems and the doctor couldn’t tell us why we couldn’t get pregnant. We elected to keep trying on our own as we were still fairly young, but 4 years later we still hadn’t had any indication of a pregnancy and sought medical help. After 3 failed IUI attempts, and Angela suffering complications from the hormone injections that required surgical intervention, we decided to not pursue In Vitro and look toward adoption. We both have cousins that were adopted as infants and know what a blessing it can be for families and look forward to being part of the process with you.
